Everyone loves puppies! But have you noticed that a lot of times the fur of a puppy changes as they age? This means some puppies are born one color and as they grow up, the color fades and blend in with other colors.

What is Puppy Color Progression?

The color of the coat of a puppy is likely going to change. However, the markings and patterns will most likely stay the same, they just may not be as prominent if the colors fade and blend into each other.

When Does Color Progression Start?

This usually starts when they reach a year old. Now, remember, the puppy stage usually lasts until 2 or 3 years, but the coats start to change around one year. You could even see the color continue to change as they age, and of course, their fur will turn more grey as they get older, too.

Common Breeds

Not every breed really sees a color progression, but many breeds do.

Corgi puppy color progression is very common. Long-haired dogs are also more likely to see color changes, like the Shih Tzu.

Some other darker colors dogs such as the Dachshund and the Boxer are also a little darker when they are firstborn. They usually lighten up after a year or so and eventually will get some grey hairs, oftentimes around the face.

Don’t Panic!

Don’t be alarmed if your puppy really starts to lighten up. If you get a puppy from a breeder and looking for a specific color, always speak with them to know what to expect as they age. Obviously, rescue dogs will be hard to tell what will happen.

However, if an adult dog starts to change color and it isn’t graying, it could be something more serious like a health issue or exposure to too much sunlight. Always speak with your veterinarian, as there are special foods and supplements out there to help keep your pet’s coat healthy as can be.

There are many ways to get rid of hair on your body these days. If you want to remove it at home, the easiest option is to reach for a razor and shave it away. Although, you might also opt for waxing or sugaring. But such methods are not perfect. They can take a lot of time and become expensive over time. Shaving is also quite inefficient. Waxing might be a bit more reliable, but it is also more uncomfortable and far less convenient. If you want the best of all worlds, your local skincare clinic offers several methods for hair removal that work better and with fewer hassles. Among them are lasers and light-based therapies.

Lasers Versus Other Light-Based Procedures for Hair Removal

One of the most common light-based procedures found in clinics is intense pulsed light treatment, or IPL. The purpose of IPL is to use short bursts of light of a particular type to affect each hair. The light used for IPL treatments is in a completely separate category from that of lasers.

Lasers are focused light beams. The particular type of light used also creates heat. The beams of laser devices for hair-removal are different from the bursts of cooler light used by IPL devices, but they serve a similar purpose. That is to weaken hairs by damaging both the shafts and the follicles. However, IPL treatments are typically more mild in nature. That means you may need more of them to achieve the same effects garnered from fewer laser treatments.

Advantages of IPL Versus Advantages of Laser Hair Removal

Laser hair removal is obviously the most advantageous of the two options in terms of strength. However, that strength does come with some cautions and potential risks. For example, laser beams are best used to treat your unwanted hair if it is dark and your skin is comparatively light in color. Yet, dark skin does make you a bit more prone to having the laser potentially change the color of your skin. Such changes can be annoying and embarrassing, but are often temporary.

In contrast, IPL treatments are milder. Therefore, they come with fewer risks. In fact, if your clinician determines you are a poor candidate for laser treatment, you may still qualify for IPL. You may also prefer IPL because you are likely to have less discomfort during each procedure. However, your clinician can manage your discomfort with the application of cool air or numbing agents to your skin during either type of procedure.

Laser and Light-Based Hair Removal Short-Term Outlooks

Neither IPL nor laser treatment is an immediate fixed for unwanted body hair. The procedures are not magical, and the results are not instantaneous. In fact, you may notice very little difference after a session, if any. It takes quite a bit of time for each hair to weaken and regrowth to slow. In the short-term, you must expect to attend a series of appointments to get the results you want. Your skin must recover between appointments, so they must be spaced accordingly.

Laser and Light-Based Hair Removal Long-Term Outlooks

Lasers are stronger than IPL devices. Therefore, the results of laser treatment are often more long-lasting. However, both procedures can give you a lengthy respite from constant waxing or shaving. You might go several weeks or more without seeing regrowth after completing your treatment session series of either procedure type. However, permanent hair removal is unlikely, especially on a widespread scale. Some hairs never grow back, but most do. They simply do so at a much slower rate because each entire hair has to regrow from the root up. Hair is not left just below your top layer of skin as with shaving.

There are many types of curly hair in the world. Some form natural waves and soft, loose spirals while others create tight, sharp circles that are beautiful but difficult to style and brush. Unfortunately, there also is not a lot of information available about how to treat and style curly hair in the United States since much of the beauty industry is focused on straight hair. In fact, many of the current styles require curly hair to emulate straight strands!

To help girls navigate some of the misinformation about curly hair to create a wonderful, styled look, here are four things that every lady should know about her curly hair.

Hair Shape Affects Oil

Many people with curly hair know that their beautiful locks tend to be dryer than that of their friends with straight hair. This actually relates to the shape of the hair rather than your own personal ability to generate oil from your scalp. You see, the oil forms along the scalp and travels from the hair follicle down the strand. With straight hair, the oil has a simple and easy path. With curly hair, though, the oil has to navigate a far more difficult path. It’s hard for the oil to travel because it needs to twist and turn around the spirals. You can imagine this process to being similar to you driving down a road. You’ll arrive at your destination much faster if you can take a straight and easy path, but will be much slower if you have to keep twisting and turning.

Why Hair Straightens

Hair straighteners have been a popular implement for curly haired individuals because it helps manage some of the unwanted volume and frizz of naturally exuberant hair. But why does hair straighten through the application of heat?

Well, the explanation is actually quite scientific. Hair retains its shape through the creation of hydrogen bonds. These bonds are strong when hair is dry. However, when hair becomes wet or is exposed to heat, the hydrogen bonds break. This doesn’t damage the hair and happens all of the time. However, once hair dries, the bonds reform. Applying heat prevents the reformation for a period of time, so you can shape the strands however you want.

The Myth about Shampoo

If you grew up with curly hair, you might have been told not to wash it often. This is because most shampoos designed for straight hair can be quite damaging to curls because they are designed to strip away oil and moisture. However, curly hair doesn’t need as harsh of clarifying power because oil doesn’t travel well on the strands. But this doesn’t mean you shouldn’t wash your hair. In fact, if you have curly hair, it’s important that you shampoo regularly to help get rid of product buildup and grease that can weaken hair and make the curls more susceptible to breakage. Just remember to use a shampoo designed for your hair type!

The Myth about Conditioner

Similar to shampoo, a lot of people with curly hair have grown up being told it’s okay to skip the conditioner. While individuals might think that conditioner can make curls too heavy or is unnecessary because brushing curls is next to impossible, this is not true. In fact, conditioner can actually be great for nourishing roots and filling in gaps where breakage or weakness might be on hair strands. They can also add much needed moisture to the curls, since they are once again typically dry because of the lack of oil reaching the strands.

So, don’t avoid the conditioner because of misinformation!

Conclusion

Curly hair is a wonderful and beautiful thing to have. After all, how many people can truly say they have naturally curly hair? However, learning to take care of and manage the spirals and waves can be a real beast. These four important tidbits of information should help you keep your hair healthy, strong, and clean for years to come. Just remember to buy products intended for your specific hair type so you don’t end up with excessive frizz or an uncomfortable lack of moisture.

If you want to look sharp, it is important to pay attention to the details. Often, it is the little things that make the biggest difference to how good you look. Here are a few examples of what we mean.

The right underwear

Let’s start with the base layer. Buying and wearing the right underwear will make a huge difference to your overall look. As you can see here, there is no shortage of choice when it comes to underwear. So, finding something that fits well and feels comfortable is not difficult.

When choosing underwear, it is important to think about the type of clothes you like wearing and buy accordingly. You want to choose something that will not show.

It needs to be tight enough to stay in place, but not so tight that it cuts into you and creates unnecessary bulges. If that happens, none of your clothes will hang properly.

Match your colours

Good colour coordination is important. Fortunately, that does not mean that the outfits you wear have to be boring or that the colours have to match exactly. Far from it, you can dress as colourfully as you want and have plenty of different clothes in your wardrobe. The only thing you need to really worry about is that the colours complement each other.

It is not too hard to learn how to do this. Using a colour wheel is by far the easiest approach. You can find one and learn how to use it by clicking here.

Keep your clothes in good repair

Missing buttons, frayed cuffs and little things like that can really detract. So, learn how to make simple repairs to your clothes and check what needs doing when you do your laundering.

Launder your clothes properly

Most of us have got into the habit of simply shoving it into the washing machine, putting it on a basic wash cycle. Very few of us still look for and treat stains before doing this. We rarely scrub cuffs and collars. As a result, over the course of a few weeks, your clothes can end up looking a bit grubby without you really realising it. You should also give your shoes a wipe over before you put them on.

Choose the right accessories

It really is worth taking the time to choose your accessories carefully. Wearing the right belt, shoes and choosing the right bag instead of grabbing whatever comes to hand will only take a few minutes. So, why not do it?

It only takes a little bit of time and effort to take care of these things, so that you always look your absolute best.

Check your appearance

A lot of people get dressed and go out without pausing and looking in a mirror to see if everything is OK. Try to get into the habit of doing this. You will be surprised by how much you notice and can fix. It is a great way to learn more about what suits you and which items look best together.
